Some shoots you know will be special the second you show up. Picture Lake gave us fog rolling over the water and a mountain hiding somewhere behind the clouds, all while two people got ready to see each other for the first time.

Kyle and Sahale call Washington home, so Mount Baker was practically in their backyard, and they made the most of it. Since they planned a first look, they got fully dressed in their wedding attire, and it looked incredible against all that mist and evergreen.

Right as they did the first look, we caught a bit of light, spitting rain. Normally that might throw people off, but out here it just added texture and atmosphere, the kind of dreamy quiet you only get up in the mountains.

Then something kind of magical happened. The clouds slowly parted, revealing the mountain behind them with subtle hints of sun peeking through. It turned into one of the most cinematic shoots I have ever done.

Kyle and Sahale, thank you for trusting me with this one, fog and rain and all. I don't think we could have scripted a more perfect morning in the mountains.
